Once off limits to the general public, since 1998 the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb has thrilled over 2 million adventurers with 3600 views of Sydney, the expanse stretching to the Blue Mountains and out through The Heads to the sea.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge climb takes 3 ½ hours. It is a steady breathtaking climb up ladders and over catwalks and arches to the summit, 134 metres above the harbour.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge walk operates from the early hours depending on the time of year, seven days a week. Try to avoid climbing in the middle of the day, especially in Summer as it can get quite hot while wearing the trendy grey suits that are provided.
Climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge
The climb does not operate 30th and 31st December. Why? Because of the fireworks on the bridge on New Year’s Eve.
You start your tour by meeting with one of the Bridge Climb staff who will give you a breathe test to ensure that you are below 0.05. If you have been over indulging at lunch, forget it! You won’t be allowed to do the climb.
All climbers must be over 12 years of age, children must be accompanied by an adult, no alcohol allowed before the climb. Additionally, all cameras, wrist watches, mobile phones etc must be stored in lockers that are provided.
